This year’s World Mission Day, marked by the sufferings and challenges caused by the Covid 19 pandemic, illuminates the missionary journey of the entire Church in the light of the word we find in the prophet Isaiah’s account of the vocation: “Here I am, send me” (Is 6:8). It is the ever new answer to the Lord’s question: “Whom shall I send?”.

“Understanding what God is saying to us in these times of pandemic becomes a challenge also for the mission of the Church. Sickness, suffering, fear, isolation challenge us. The poverty of those who die alone, of those who are left to themselves, of those who lose their jobs and salaries, of those who have no home and no food question us. Obliged to physical distance and to stay at home, we are invited to rediscover that we need social relations, and also community relations with God”.
