Provincia Madre Serafina di Gesù - BrasileProvincia Madre Serafina di Gesù - Brasile

The missionary identity of the Mother Seraphina Province of Jesus is realised on a daily basis, through the living out of the commitments made to God and to the Church “People of God” by each one of us in our communities, where we are in mission.

As Eucharistic women, we want to be a leaven of the Gospel in every place and circumstance, updating the missionary ardour that has animated Mother Seraphina since the beginning of the Institute, always seeking to take new steps in response to the calls of the mission.

In our desire to respond promptly to the “Go” of Jesus Christ and Mother Seraphina, our foundress, we are committed to being in the poorest and most abandoned places, together with people in situations of poverty and social vulnerability.

SOLIDARITY PROJECT:

Interprovincial mission with indigenous peoples

Location: Redenção, south of Pará, Brazil

Objective: to guide and help them preserve their culture, customs and organisation
We currently serve the Kaiapó and Atikum peoples. The interprovincial mission (two provinces in Brazil) is carried out in partnership with the CIMI (Indigenous Missionary Council) and the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (CNBB). It’s a demanding mission because of the marginalisation suffered by indigenous peoples. We are committed to helping them preserve their culture, customs and organisation.

We are involved in the villages through visits and cultural festivals. We welcome those who come to our house to rest, have a shower, a snack, some to mend clothes, get help with their schoolwork, chat and go for a walk. In the “support” house, we take on the weighing of the children in partnership with the Pastoral da Criança (Children’s Pastoral) and systematic visits.
